Event| Spa Queen Expo by the Six Figure Spa Chick

Hello Passionista-

Last week, I got a chance to hang with Candace Holyfield also known as the Six Figure Spa Chick and CEO of the largest African-American Spa Booking community. She hosted a 2- Day Spa Expo in Atlanta for Spa Professionals. There were classes that spa professionals could sign up to take with their registration and a vendor expo for spa professional to book clients for services and sell products.

Candace shared with me about how she started in spa industry by doing massage therapy in Memphis, Tennessee after begining a waitress for 12 years. She gained a cliental of celebrities that lead her to creating a online business called, Spa Calls. The purpose of this business venture was for Candace to conduct service calls for spa professional to teach them how to run their own spa and share ways spa professionals could get more clients. By doing spa service calls she created a network and brand called Six Figure Spa Chicks. This network helped her quickly build a team as she transitioned herself, family, and business from Memphis, Tennessee to Altanta, Georgia.

In my conversation with Candace, she shared that building a team for her business was her main objective when becoming serious about branding Six Figure Spa Chicks. Most people (like myself) feel like they have to be a one-person show in the beginning stages of starting a business or building a brand. Candace saw things differently and opted to build her own network that turned her into a Six Figure Chick. By doing so, Candace is now able to retire as a massage therapist to focus mainly on her brand “Six Figure Spa Chicks” and teaching other spa professionals how to build a success spa business.

After my time with Candace, I browsed the expo to see what products and services the vendors were showcasing. I didn;t book any spa services, alothough I could have really used a massage. But I did get them opportunity to talk to lots of female business owners in the spa and beauty community. I was humbled to be able to network and support so many female entreprenurs. Happy Hump Day!!!!

So, this weekend I had the pleasure of putting together a “Tutus & Pearls” theme baby shower for a client. I love doing baby showers because there are so many creative things you can put together to make the most special and memorable occasion no matter how small or large the event.

This was my 1st booked event for the year and I’m extremely happy with the end results and so was my client. It was small but filled with so much love. I was able to put together some cool DIY decor for the candle table, gift table and pin for the mommy to be. I was nervous about the final look of the decor being gold and yellow (but my clients get what they want), it turns out better than expected. I’m glad I could make my clients vision come to life. I will share all DIY (How to’s) in Friday’s blog… Stay tuned! For now, here are pictures from the event.

I love keepsakes and craft projects, So I put together a scrapbooking station on the entry table. Instead of a guest book, guest were asked to make a scrapbook page for Mommy and Baby.

I made the mommy 2 be pin and managed to craft up some cute pillows for the mommy to be chair. This was something she got to keep for the babies room.

BLOGMAS Day 13| Girlboss Code + Digital Marketing

Hello Passionista

So last night I attended the really amazing FREE workshop at General Assembly at Ponce City Market (Atlanta,GA).

General Assembly hosts a variety of courses and workshops. They often host free workshops and panels that are every interactive and informative. I think I’ve attended maybe 4 workshops so far. Each workshop I’ve attended, I’ve have been able to take away something available and apply it to my career and side hustles. This event was a panel driven workshop titled, Girlboss code + digital marketing: A chat with social influencers, shakers and movers.

Most of my subscribers know that I am a full time project manager and a side hustling blogger, microinfluencer, and event planner. As I continue to grow, my goal is start my own creative business. So, I love FREE events that I can attend to teach me something new and network with some dope people.

There was so much valuable knowledge and information shared in this workshop. It felt like a chip off my shoulder to hear the start up journeys of young successful entrepreneurs and influencers …  from quieting your day job to lessons learned from mistakes. I left this workshop feeling a part of a community of girl bosses and inspired to keep pushing. The panel discussion were really a sense of insurance for me, that I am on the right track and I am making the right moves and IT IS  going to happen for me and I WILL  be all that I can be.

The panelist shared their best advise that no one told them, but they learned:

  • Have confidence in yourself. #selflove is a BIG DEAL!
  • Be more kind to yourself.
  • Get Enough Sleep!
  • Learn your customer based, streamline your business and stay in your lane.
  • Recognize when you’ve made it.
  • Look back at your experience, all the answer are there.

Key takeaways from the Panelist to the audience:

  • Brand just means reputation and social media just means communication in this day and age
  • Start where you are with what you have
  • Have a support network or community
  • Share your wins with your friends
  • Build a Team!!!!!

Lipstick of the Week: MAC matte lipstick

Hello Passionista!

This week has been awesome. On Sunday, I met up with friends to spend some chill time in the park. The weather was nice, sun was shinning, and we needed some girl chat.

I love a good park picnic set up. So on short notice I gathered my blanket, cards games, snacks and wine for our little park adventure. The weather was not too hot or too cold, allowing us to enjoy the park for about five hours out in the sun. (Well under a tree really)

Since this was a outside event and I sweat so easily, I made it a fresh face SUNDAY. But you know I can’t go without lipstick.

This week I have fallen in love with the MAC Matte Lipstick in the color whirl, all over again. I purchased this lipstick last fall and with the seasons changing and getting new lipsticks it has just been siting on my lipstick rack. But look at it on me. It is time I bring this whirl color out of retirement and start rocking it again.

Hello Passionista!


This week I celebrated a birthday and I was more than overjoyed by the love I received. After a weekend of “good times” with my closest friends, I wanted to spend my special day doing something I’ve never done before.

I wanted to climb Stone Mountain …. And I did it !!!!!

I am not the workout type of girl. This idea came to mine because I knew climbing a mountain is out of my comfort zone. I knew it would be a strong challenge. I knew that I had it in me to achieve this challenge. But I also knew that I had it in me to take the easy way out of this challenge.


My journey up the mountain started off silent. But soon turned into lots of doubt, heavy breathing and many rest stops. It took an hour to get half way up the mountain and about another hour for finish. During my many rest stops, I thought about giving up and going back down the mountain to flat ground. I wanted to quit because the mountain was super steep and I was physically uncomfortable. But each time I stood up to walk back down the mountain I saw someone pass me that gave me motivation to keep pushing.


I saw a elderly man with two walking sticks walking like climbing that mountain meant nothing; if he can do it so can I.

I saw a father with his small daughter, maybe 5 years of age- I overheard the little girl say that it was her third time up the mountain; if that little girl had the courage to take on Stone Mountain so can I.

I saw a couple pushing one another to make it to the top- I want to be able to do that with my husband someday; if they can do it so can I.

I saw my father (who has had several back surgeries, but loves to stay fit) conquering that mountain like he was walking on water; if he can keep pushing so can I.

As out of shape as I am, I continued to push myself up that mountain in the Georgia heat. Let me tell you, the second half of the mountain is not friendly at all. I thought I wouldn’t make it several times. But as we reached the top of the mountain, I slick dropped a tear. The breeze felt so good on my sweaty skin. But just to know that it was over, that I made it to the top was such a happy feeling. And the view… the view is simply amazing.


Honestly, I thought I was crazy for even wanting to do it. But I am soooooo glad I did. I proved something to myself. I have always known that I can do anything I sit my mind to do. But the challenge of climbing the mountain was reassurance that nothing can get in my way if I don’t let it.

Dear Four Little Black Girls,

You were taken away from this world too soon. I hear and see your story and think about everything you missed out on like school dances and parties, even prom, graduation, college life, and growing up. It saddens me. Then I think about 1963 vs. 2016. Times are different! Or are they? I mean well theres a slight difference. But hurtfully, innocent African American are still losing there lives to racism. Not one of you deserved what happened on September 15,1963. I hope you’ll be happy to know that your death was followed by thousands of protesters standing up for your innocence in this situation.

I recently visited the Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, GA and the memorial in your honor is beyond amazing, and every inspirational. As much as I want to be angry and sad when I think about the bombing, your smiles make me happy. I think about good times and childhood. I think about that one Easter morning, my mommy got me dressed fresh as can be and curled my hair. Then se sat me down at the kitchen table and painted my finger nails a pearly pink color. I sat pretty as can be at church that day, extremely nervous when I said my Easter speech. But, I remember that day being just as easy as any Sunday morning. I want your little ladies to dwell on the good times and be thankful for the bad times, because we all know trouble don’t last always. I can’t wait until the morning we met. We’d just laugh, cry and hug. We’d have hours of girl talk and put of our Sunday’s best for the tea party of our lives. And together we’d look back at the times that had us down and then we’d be merry and blessed. OH I CAN’T WAIT.

Hey Friends…

Recently I visited the Center for Civil and Human Rights, downtown Atlanta, GA. When I tell you the center is amazing, It’s amazing! If you’re in the area, please make time to visit it. And you can spend all day in this place. The group I went with made a day of it and we all enjoyed ourselves. See pictures in my February gallery.
